Hey ladies! I’m back with yet another blog about…yup you guessed it, singleness! I hadn’t intended on focusing so much on singleness as I don’t like to over emphasize this topic. Yes I’m a single Christian woman and I love to encourage other singles but the topic is not what I want to be my primary focus. However, God had other plans for me when He placed this blog idea on my heart this morning. It just hit me as I day dreamt thinking about where I’d wear a new dress I recently purchased. You know that dress that’s still very classy but a little too tight and hits a little too right in certain places to be a church dress? Yeah that dress lol. I found myself thinking “when I get a man I’ll wear things like that to a fancy dinner”. Just then, while brushing my teeth I felt like the Holy Spirit speak to my heart, saying “When you get a man??” I begin to check myself and think: You can go to dinner by yourself, you work every day, you eat every day, and you try to look cute everyday (some days better than others). No but in all seriousness, I realized in that moment, us single ladies need not want for anything or be waiting or anything… We should be waiting for nothing! You want to get dressed up and go out? Take yourself out. Not quite ready for the loner dinner, you say? Well go round up the girls and make a night of it.
What I am trying to say is we don’t have to sit around waiting. That’s not what God wants for us. We should be living life to the fullest whether single or “boo’d up”. After all Jesus said “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). The enemy wants us to sit around bitter, defeated, and disillusioned with our Christian walk. He wants to steal our joy and rob us of our security and contentment in Christ alone and if it were up to him we’d stay stuck obsessed with all the things we want to do but don’t think we can’t do. But we can’t let him! With Jesus we can live an abundant life. Abundance means“present in great quantity; more than adequate; over sufficient; well supplied with something; richly supplied, as with resources”. When you have Jesus you are not simply surviving and just making it day by day, no you have more than enough, your cup is overflowing because you have the gift of eternal life through your faith in Christ.
He is leading you and will supply you with all you need. I don’t know about you but I want to live an abundant life. I want to meditate on the fact that with my Jesus I have more than enough, my life is sufficient just the way it is and if and when he sees fit to be supply me with more, great! But if not that’s fine too. This truth was etched in my heart as I was frustrated with my singleness and thought one day a while back, “I can’t wait to have the covering of a good Godly man, one that will lead me, love me, and never leave me”. God quickly checked me as He so lovingly does from time to time and called to my attention that I already have all that I desire, right now in the form of Savior. I’m covered by the blood of Jesus, led by the Holy Spirit daily, and I serve a God that has promised never to leave me nor forsake me. Now I know some people think that’s super religious or extra and they love God but “need a man, you know somebody they can see and touch”. I hear you sis and I too thought that way at one point in time… but God. I realized that I need to spend more time thanking and praising God for what I already have in Him than complaining and meditating on what I want and don’t yet have. This will lead to me living and not simply waiting.
Now I know you may be thinking, “Well if I want a man and I don’t have one now, I do have to wait”. And I get it, technically you do, we all do. But what I’m trying to say is you don’t have to wait to live. I want you to make a list of all the things you’ve ever thought about doing but don’t because you don’t have a man. Now I know there are some things we just simply can’t do without one and of course I’m not talking about those things. No, I’m talking about the dinners I touched on in the beginning, traveling, going on missions trips, starting a business or ministry, going to the movies, buying a home (if that’s something you desire now), moving to another state, buying yourself jewelry or whatever else you can afford (don’t be trying to ball out and that’s not in your budget, be led by God). I just want you to LIVE. Write your list and give it to God. Make a vow to stop waiting on a man and make the best of whatever your portion is RIGHT NOW, believe me it is more than enough because God is with you.
